Sonoco Products expands recycling role

Sept. 26 -- Sonoco Products Co. is renaming its global recovered paper operations Sonoco Recycling as part of a move to expand services.

The Hartsville, S.C.-based company uses recycled fiber to make new packaging products.

"As one of the largest recyclers in the packaging industry, Sonoco has extensive materials recovery experience," said Jack Sanders, senior vice president.

"Sonoco´s recycling capabilities have grown far beyond collecting paper to meet our internal raw material needs," he said.

The new approach will combine the company´s recycling capabilities with new market-driven sustainable services such as waste management consulting for customers, the company said.
